Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Web Developer to join a collaborative engineering team building and maintaining modern, data-driven web applications. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role spanning frontend, backend, database, and CI/CD concerns, with strong expectations around engineering judgment, code quality, performance, and reliability.

The role is initially focused on development and implementation, with limited direct customer-facing requirements work. As domain knowledge grows, customer and stakeholder interaction may increase over time.

Responsibilities

·       Provide application development and ongoing support for a broad portfolio of applications and utilities supporting the needs of Hines, including:

o   Asset & Investment management

o   Deal management

o   ESG

o   Generative AI

o   Reporting and analytics

o   Data warehouse/ETL support utilities

·       Design, develop, and maintain web applications and APIs across frontend, backend, and data layers

·       Build and evolve frontend applications using React-based frameworks such as Next.js, Remix/React Router, or similar

·       Implement responsive, accessible user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and Tailwind CSS

·       Develop and maintain backend services using Python and C#

·       Design, implement, and evolve CI/CD pipelines

·       Execute and support code deployments through CI/CD pipelinesExperience with Azure DevOps, including source control/code check-in workflows, backlog and sprint management, user stories, epics, bug tracking, etc.

·       Manage code, stories, bugs

·       Assist with the setup, configuration & maintenance of Dev, QA, and Prod environments.

·       Comfort working in Linux server environments, including command-line usage

·       Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives)

·       Assist with application architecture and design to ensure maintainability, scalability, sustainability, and long-term viability of systems

 

Experience & Qualifications

·       professional experience building production web applications

·       Strong experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, and React

·       Experience with modern React frameworks such as Next.js, Remix/React Router, or similar

·       Solid frontend fundamentals, including HTML, CSS, Tailwind CSS

·       Strong understanding of server-client interactions in React 19 including:

o   Suspense and error boundaries using the `use` API

o   React Server Components

o   Hydration

o   Form actions

·       Backend development experience using Python and C#

·       Data and analytics experience using Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and visualization tools such as Plotly

·       Exposure to NLP or AI tooling such as NLTK, Hugging Face, or generative AI integrations

·       Strong relational database experience with SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL, including:

o   SQL/T-SQL fundamentals

o   Stored procedures, CTEs, scalar and table-valued functions

o   Execution plan analysis and query optimization

o   Relational modeling and normalization (1NF–3NF)

·       Experience working with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB

·       Strong grounding in software design patterns and engineering principles

·       Experience working in environments that use Azure DevOps and Jira for development and delivery

·       Experience in Azure’s application services (App Services, Function Apps, Application Insights, Entra ID, Enterprise applications/App registrations)

 

Additional Strengths (Nice to Have)

·       Exposure to automated testing (unit, integration, or end-to-end)

·       Experience with reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, OBIEE, SSRS, Crystal)

·       Basic understanding of data warehousing and ETL concepts

·       Salesforce integration experience

·       Familiarity with Master Data Management (MDM) concepts

·       Working knowledge of the real estate industry
